Mission économique

Lundi 31 Mar 2014 > Vendredi 4 Avr 2014

Sydney, Perth

The Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will organise a multisectoral economic mission to Australia from the 31st of March to the 4th of April 2014. The objective of this very first trade mission to Australia, led by the Chamber of Commerce and with the participation of government officials, is to promote and strengthen the commercial and economic ties between Australia and Luxembourg. The economic mission will start in Perth (State of Western Australia) on 31st of March and 1st of April and continue to the second destination Sydney (State of New South Wales) on 3rd and 4th of April.

Australia has continued to overcome the global economic crisis well, reflecting sound macroeconomic policies and strong demand of natural resources from China which underpinned the significant increase in Australia's balance of trade since the start of the 21st century. The chosen States to be visited account for almost half of the nation’s GDP and will engage in large infrastructure projects over the next years and therefore offer opportunities for companies from the sectors such as transportation, ICT, machinery and financial services. The Luxembourg fund industry is of particular interest to the Australian authorities and private companies, as it could connect these large infrastructure projects to be carried out in Australia with international financing.

The main goal of this economic mission is to pursue negotiations in favor of a double tax treaty between Australia and Luxembourg, which shall be mutually beneficial for both our economies. As lobbying is key to attaining a breakthrough in this matter, every company with a direct or indirect vested interest in the Australian economy is highly encouraged to take part in this economic mission. Next to official meetings concerning the latter issue, sectoral roundtables will be organised and B2B meetings will be arranged upon request.
