Vendredi 29 Sep 2017

Conférence / séminaire

Vendredi 29 Sep 2017

09:45 am to 11:30 pm

The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in close cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Cabo Verde in Luxembourg, has the pleasure to welcome a delegation led by Cabo Verde TradeInvest on Friday September 29th, 2017. The business delegation is mainly represented by sectors such as construction, construction and sanitation materials, finance, maritime–and-air related services and commodities, and tourism industry.

On this occasion, a seminar on business opportunities in the Republic of Cabo Verde will be organised at the premises of the Chamber of Commerce from 09:45 am to 11:30 pm. The seminar will be followed by a networking lunch.

Despite the challenges related to its climate and geography, the Republic of Cabo Verde has in terms of economic growth constantly progressed over the last 15 years: Real GDP per capita recorded one of the largest increases among sub-Saharan countries, rising from USD 3 700 in 2008 to USD 6 700 in 2016. This evolution has been enabled by an economic - development strategy and, in large parts, by the country’s flourishing tourism industry, which nowadays constitutes a substantial part of its economy.

Furthermore, the government of the Republic of Cabo Verde is not only focusing on renewable energy but is also making efforts to turn the islands into a trade, business and transport hub for Western-Africa, while looking to both private and foreign investment as the engine for the country’s future economic growth.

When it comes to the Luxembourg and Cabo Verde relations, close bilateral ties already exist since the General Cooperation Agreement signed in 1993. This strong relationship continues within the 4th Indicative Cooperation Program (ICP), which has been signed in 2016 and runs until 2020. In addition, the Republic of Cabo Verde is amongst the prioritized countries in the framework of the Luxembourg Business Partnership Facility Program.

Thus, the aim of this seminar is to provide information about the current economic situation and business environment in the Republic of Cabo Verde and to explore opportunities for Luxembourg companies to enhance and strengthen economic and commercial relations in this country.

Please find attached the list of the Cabo Verde delegates that will be attending the event as well as the preliminary program of the seminar.

The working language will be French and English.

Interested companies are kindly requested to duly complete the online registration form by no later than September 27th, 2017.
