India-Luxembourg

Incredible India! This was the slogan used for a couple of years in order to promote India as a tourist destination. Today this slogan could be used in order to promote India as destination for Doing business. Actually, much happened in India during the last 6 years, where Luxembourg was absent with a trade delegation to this South Asian Nation. A new Prime Minister took office and with him a series of new policies were developed. Make in India and Digital India are only the most popular ones. All these policies have one clear goal: Promote India actively as a hub for business operations or as a part in the global value chain.

From 29th of February until 5th of March, a trade delegation of some 25 businesspeople from 15 Luxembourg companies took up the chance to visit this fast growing country in the framework of the Official Mission led by H.E. Mr Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy to Delhi and Mumbai.

After a first day of cultural, commercial and economic embedding, through briefings and visits, the Luxembourg delegates were ready to take advantage of the matchmaking provided by the Chamber of Commerce. This service was organized in cooperation with a well known local consultancy and Luxembourg companies got the possibility to discuss with extremely well selected Indian businesses partnerships and business opportunities.

During the mission, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, represented by Mr Robert Dennewald, Vice President of the Chamber, signed 4 Memorandum of Understanding with local and national organizations. In fact, it was and is the clear will of our Chamber to foster and strengthen partnerships on local and national levels in India in order to receive most accurate information about the latest economic developments in India and to take advantage of the contact points Indian organizations offer to tap into concrete business opportunities. The India Business Chamber of Luxembourg was also represented with 3 members, a clear sign that this very active business chamber wants to foster and strengthen the relations between our two countries.

At both seminars, in Delhi and Mumbai, organized in close cooperation with our local partner, the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Embassy of Luxembourg in New Delhi, over 300 Indian businesses were briefed by Mr Dennewald about Luxembourg as the ideal business hub in Europe, while Luxembourg for Finance, represented by Mr Nicolas Mackel, CEO of LfF, brought the Luxembourg Financial Centre closer to the Indian business community.
