Go International

For Luxembourg companies interested in venturing abroad, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organised its first flagship event, Go International Day, on 27 June 2023. Together with numerous partners, the Chamber of Commerce showcased the whole palette of services that it can offer to Luxembourg companies, while focusing on opportunities, challenges, latest trends in international business, and highlighting international „know-how”.

Practical workshops, tailored Business2Advisors meetings and stands featuring services were on the agenda. The importance of international trade for the Luxembourg economy was underlined by the presence of H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke and Mr. Franz Fayot, Minister of the Economy. In his keynote, the Minister highlighted the framework put in place by the Ministry to support Luxembourgish companies in venturing abroad, such as the Business Partnership Facility and the Luxembourg Trade Offices abroad. Together with the four Trade Attachés of the Chamber of Commerce, this Trade and Invest Network across the globe is gathering 16 advisors, ready to support Luxembourgish companies to succeed internationally.

A discussion on how to approach high-risk markets drew attention to the risks and opportunities when companies venture into such markets. Testimonials from G-Core Labs, B-Medical Systems, LSC Engineering Group and the public Export Credit Agency- ODL gave concrete tips and ideas on when and how to prepare for such markets.

The message of the event was clear: no matter whether your company is small, medium-sized or large, there are numerous opportunities for doing business in the closer region and in faraway markets. The Chamber of Commerce together with its partners aims to support as many Luxembourg companies as possible in venturing abroad while guiding them and “opening doors” in various countries.

As Mr. Thelen pointed out in his opening remarks: “Today’s event is specifically dedicated to the T in “Luxembourg Trade and Invest”, the TRADE activity. The level of involvement of colleagues from the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and their Network of Luxembourg Trade Officers abroad, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, as well as the European Commission, Luxinnovation, LuxDev, Office du Ducroire, the Cluster for Logistics and our own House of Entrepreneurship and House of Sustainability is just amazing”. The members of the Luxembourg Trade and Invest Team in Luxembourg and abroad are well aligned to guide and advise companies in their international endeavors.

As an essential part of the event, Luxembourg companies participated in the personalised Business2Advisors matchmaking meetings with advisors from the Chamber of Commerce and Luxembourg Trade and Invest Offices abroad, as well as with experts of the Enterprise Europe Network, the Luxembourg Export Credit Agency – ODL, the Office for Export, Import and Transit Controls – OCEIT, the Customs Authority and the House of Entrepreneurship.

Should any companies still have any questions related to going international, the International Affairs of the Chamber of Commerce remains at their disposal.
