Opening paths for international spouses to skills, careers and opportunities
Moving to a new country is an exciting opportunity, but it can also bring challenges, especially when it comes to building a professional network, finding employment, pursuing further education, starting a business or becoming part of the local community.
As part of the Work in Luxembourg initiative, the Luxembourg Spouse Programme supports the spouses and partners of international talent who have relocated to Luxembourg. Recognising that the relocation journey often involves the entire family, the programme aims to facilitate the integration of spouses or partners of international professionals and empower them to explore career, education, entrepreneurship and community engagement opportunities, helping them build a fulfilling future in Luxembourg.
Organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Labour, and delivered in collaboration with several partners, the programme helps participants identify and pursue the opportunities best suited to their aspirations, skills and ambitions.
Start your journey with the Introduction and Orientation Module
The programme begins with the Introduction and Orientation Module, offering participants a comprehensive overview of Luxembourg’s economic landscape, labour market and available support services. Through presentations, networking opportunities and exchanges with partner organisations, participants gain valuable insights and guidance to help shape their next steps.
Participation in the Introduction and Orientation Module is the starting point of the Luxembourg Spouse Programme. Designed as the gateway to the programme, it enables participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities available in Luxembourg and identify the pathway, or combination of pathways, best suited to their personal and professional objectives. Participation in this module is required before joining any of the programme pathways.
The first edition of the Introduction and Orientation Module will be offered in two formats:
29 September 2026 – In-person session at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce
2 October 2026 – Online session
While both formats provide access to the same key information and insights, we warmly encourage participants to join the in-person session whenever possible. Beyond the presentations, it offers a unique opportunity to meet programme partners face-to-face, connect with other international spouses, expand your network and start building valuable connections within Luxembourg's professional and community ecosystem.
Upon completion of the Introduction and Orientation Module, participants will be invited to explore one or more pathways aligned with their personal and professional goals.
Pathway to Work
For participants looking to enter or re-enter the labour market, this pathway, delivered by the House of Training, a continuing vocational training organization, in collaboration with ADEM, provides tailored support through individual coaching, employability workshops, career planning, job application preparation and networking opportunities with employers.
This pathway is specifically intended for spouses or partners of international talents who have relocated to Luxembourg within the past five years and who are seeking to develop their own professional career in the country. To ensure participants can fully benefit from the programme, applicants should be residing in Luxembourg, have a good command of English, be registered with ADEM (or willing to register), and demonstrate a strong motivation and availability to actively engage in the programme. As places are limited, participants will be selected based on their profile, professional objectives and the relevance of the pathway to their needs.
Pathway to Entrepreneurship
For spouses and partners who are considering self-employment or launching a business in Luxembourg, the Pathway to Entrepreneurship provides access to the expertise, guidance and support services of the House of Entrepreneurship of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the national one-stop shop for entrepreneurs. The pathway is designed to support participants at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey, from the first exploration of a business idea to the launch and development of a company.
Pathway to Continuing Education
Presented by the Maison de l'Orientation, this pathway helps participants explore lifelong learning opportunities, skills assessments, career transitions, and the recognition of foreign diplomas and qualifications. It offers guidance for those wishing to enhance their skills, change careers or pursue further studies in Luxembourg.
Pathway to Local Anchoring & Community Engagement
Building a fulfilling life in a new country goes beyond professional integration. Developed by the Ministry of Family Affairs through the Biergerpakt initiative and the Agence du Bénévolat, this pathway helps participants better understand Luxembourg’s society, culture and institutions while encouraging active participation in community life through volunteering and local engagement opportunities.
