First Startup Weekend Luxembourg

For its first event Startup Weekend Luxembourg is going to compete with 130+ events like it all around the world during Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Esch Sur Alzette / Belval – Startup Weekend Luxembourg will connect local entrepreneurs, developers, designers and startup enthusiasts with mentors and resources at its first event from 16 to 18 November 2012. Throughout the course of this 54-hour event, attendees will share ideas, form teams, and launch startups.

“What is very special for our first event is that it happens during the Global Entrepreneurship Week. This means that we will be part of the Global Startup Battle, which is the one of, if not , THE biggest global initiative centered on the world’s entrepreneurs: 10,000+ participants, 1,200+ teams, 100+ cities in 2 weekends!  We will broadcast our event and one of our teams may potentially win a trip to Rio or to San Francisco as well as great packages to help boost their company after the weekend.” explains Sylvain Chery, one of the organizers.

Here’s how it works: on Friday evening every attendee has the opportunity to pitch an idea, then all attendees vote and teams form to work on selected ideas. Coaches help teams on Saturday and Sunday to develop their ideas into promising businesses. At the end of the weekend teams present their work and a Jury awards the best projects. Startup Weekend Luxembourg is organized locally by Diego De Biaso, Sylvain Chery, Benoit Fortemps and Yann Gensollen. Startup Weekend Luxembourg will be held at the new Technoport building in Belval.
