In his third state of the nation address, on Tuesday 19 May, Luc Frieden will have to explain how he intends to tackle the deteriorating social climate, the economic downturn and the threats to public finances. His room for manoeuvre is shrinking.
Whilst the issue of energy prices is to be addressed by the tripartite committee – which is expected to present its findings in early June – the prime minister, Luc FriedenLuc Frieden (CSV) cannot afford to ignore this issue, given how crucial it is to the success of the government’s economic and social programme.
