From 20 to 22 October 2025, the Chamber of Commerce successfully organised an Official Trade Mission to the Netherlands, led by Mr. Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism, and Mr. Fernand Ernster, President of the Chamber of Commerce. Focused on ICT, AI, automotive, defence and hydrogen – sectors of strategic interest between Luxembourg and the Netherlands – the mission gathered 60 participants, including 33 companies and 10 institutions, all eager to explore new business opportunities and strengthen ties with their Dutch counterparts.

The mission highlighted the complementarity of our economies in these key sectors, offering both countries a collaborative platform to showcase their expertise. This is especially relevant in today’s economic context, as Europe strives to strengthen its competitiveness to accelerate sustainable and digital transition.

Programme and key highlights

The mission began with the Netherlands-Luxembourg Business Forum, which brought together key industry players from both countries. Participants were introduced to Brainport Eindhoven, one of Europe's leading innovation hubs, and took part in a session on “How to leverage the EuroHPC Network of AI-optimised supercomputers and associated AI Factories to stimulate innovation and AI adoption”. This topic holds particular significance, as Luxembourg is among the seven EU countries selected for to host an AI Factory – an initiative of the European Commission designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and development in the field of artificial intelligence. Consequently, the session offered insights into how both nations can cooperate to accelerate AI innovation.

The forum also highlighted Luxembourg’s dynamic and innovative economy, presenting its strengths in technology, finance, automotive, and defence.

Two pitching sessions – focused respectively on automotive and defence – enabled participants to showcase their cutting-edge solutions and explore new synergies in these fast-evolving industries.

An Official Networking Reception gathered more than 125 Luxembourg and Dutch guests in a convivial yet impactful atmosphere, providing an excellent opportunity to deepen discussions.

The following two days featured a series of company visits, offering a closer look at the leading technological and industrial ecosystems in the Netherlands. Participants gained key perspectives into the automotive sector through visits to NXP Semiconductors, a global leader in automotive safety and connectivity. A visit to the Automotive Campus in Helmond allowed the delegation to meet with TNO Innovation for Life and VDL Enabling Transport Solutions, where they witnessed the latest innovations in smart mobility and sustainable transport. A dedicated networking lunch provided further opportunities for participants from both countries to pitch their solutions.

Delegates also discovered the AI and high-tech manufacturing sectors with visits to the AI Innovation Center, where resident companies showcased their breakthrough technologies in AI. They also met with Sioux Technologies, a leader in high-tech solutions in software, electronics, and mechatronics. At the VDL headquarters, participants uncovered VDL Defentec’s expertise in defence and specialised vehicles.

The mission concluded with a visit to the Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven, a hub where top technology, education, government, and high-quality facilities converge to drive innovation in advanced manufacturing.

An important milestone of the mission was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Technoport’s Automobility Incubator and the Automotive Campus in the Netherlands, which will bring the two ecosystems together and accelerate the development of next-generation mobility solutions.

Opening new avenues for collaboration

Over the course of three dynamic days, the Official Trade Mission to the Netherlands stimulated connections for companies as well as institutions. This mission is a perfect example of European cooperation and will serve in reinforcing Europe’s sovereignty in the strategic domains of energy and technology.

As the mission concludes, the growing enthusiasm from both Luxembourg and Dutch companies testifies their willingness to cooperate and develop joint opportunities. The Chamber of Commerce remains committed to supporting participating companies in transforming these contacts into lasting partnerships.
