On May 18th, 2021, the Chamber of Commerce hosted the “Go International: Taiwan” webinar in close collaboration with the Ministry of the Economy and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Seoul. The event, broadcasted from the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce’s studio, is part of the Go International webinar series, aimed at promoting the nine Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices (LTIO) throughout the world (Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei, New York, San Francisco, Tel Aviv, Abu Dhabi and Casablanca), as well as the four Economic and Commercial Attachés of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce based in Paris/Marseille, Brussels, Berlin and London. This network of offices set up by the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and the Chamber of Commerce provides its services and introduces business opportunities for all Luxembourg companies in each respective market.

The webinar was kicked off by the Minister of the Economy, Mr. Franz Fayot, and Mrs. Cindy Tereba, International Affairs Director at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. The Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Seoul, Mrs. Tania Berchem, gave an overview of the Taiwanese economy, its opportunities and its challenges, before her colleague, Mrs. Sophie Liao, Trade Officer at the LTIO in Seoul, explained how Luxembourg companies can set up a business in Taiwan.

This was followed by a presentation on the services for foreign companies, the EEN Network and Trade shows offered by TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council), given by Mrs. Patty Yen, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center in Rotterdam.

After the presentations on business incentives in Taiwan, two companies took the virtual stage to share their experiences and expertise in the market as part of a roundtable discussion moderated by Mrs. Sophie Liao:

  • Mr. René Stoltz, Managing Director Asia, Paul Wurth International S.A.Taiwan Branch and Foreign Trade Advisor for Luxembourg
  • Mr. Julien Hennequin, COO & Co-founder, Odysseus Space S.A.
