The Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy, the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg and FEDIL, in cooperation with PwC Luxembourg, are delighted to announce that the next "Journée de l'Economie" conference will be taking place on

Monday, 16 March 2020

and will be dedicated to:

Climate crisis: are we turning the corner? A crucial shift for Luxembourg's economy

The world's climate has already changed measurably in response to accumulating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These changes as well as projected future disruptions have prompted intense research into the nature of the problem, potential policy solutions and changes to business models. Many scientists believe that humanity is close to the "point of no return".

This year, our annual conference brings together leading names from the worlds of business, academia and politics to discuss and debate critical climate change issues and their impact on the economy and industry as a whole.

The topic will be tackled through three different lenses:

  1. Global lens: a review of challenges and impacts related to climate change worldwide and the urgent need to adapt international policies and companies' business models to promote a more sustainable economy, while not forgetting the significant international cooperation challenges that any response poses.
  2. European lens: what are the new European Commission's ambitions and what actions can be undertaken to tackle climate change? What opportunities will the Green Deal bring?
  3. Luxembourgish lens: with a specific focus on the concrete impact on our local economy and industry, but also a look at how the country can and should play a leading role in sustainable finance.

The conference will be held in English.
