In its working paper dated September 2011 on the Pollutant Emission Reduction from Maritime Transport and The Sustainable Waterborne Transport Toolbox, the European Commission identified alternative fuels like the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as the longer term solution for shipping. According to this report, the advantages for the environment that accrue by using LNG are manifold: the fuel not only contains no sulphur but has also causes limited emissions of CO2, NOx and particulate. Nevertheless, the lack of adequate bunkering infrastructure and stations has to be overcome.
The Luxembourg Maritime Cluster has the pleasure to invite you to a conference with LNG experts who will give you a comprehensive overview of the subject and the visions of GDF Suez with regards to LNG as alternative shipping fuel.
