21.05.2017 – 24.05.2017

Chicago

The Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will organize an economic mission to Chicago, IL, from the 21st to the 24th of May 2017. The trade mission’s objective is to promote and strengthen the commercial and economic ties between the region of Chicago and Luxembourg. Our local partner in the organization of this visit will be World Business Chicago, supported by PwC’s Accelerator.

  • Chicago has one of the largest and most diversified economies in the USA, with more than four million employees and generating an annual gross regional product (GRP) of over 561 billion dollars.
  • The city is an efficient economic powerhouse, home to more than 400 major corporate headquarters, including 31 in the Fortune 500.
  • Chicago has a stable and predictable business friendly climate. KPMG ranks Chicago as one of the most cost-effective cities in the world for doing business-ahead of New York and Los Angeles. Chicago is centrally located at the nexus between European and Asian markets, and the North American Free Trade Zone.
  • Luxembourg and Chicago seem to be natural partners. Many of the sectors that Luxembourg is heavily investing in for its economic diversification are also key industries in Chicago: Logistics, the Automotive Industry, Biohealth, ICT & FinTech and Materials are just a few examples.

During the economic mission, attendees will visit a range of top local corporates and institutions, as well as selected incubators and accelerators that are part of Chicago’s rising tech scene. The economic mission offers the possibility to present Luxembourg’s know-how and technologies, but also to stimulate an exchange and knowledge-sharing with the Chicago counterparts. Participating companies will also have tailor-made business meetings with local companies and institutions upon request.

The Directorate General for Tourism of the Ministry of the Economy along with the agency “Luxembourg for Tourism” will also travel to the United States for a four day trade mission (22nd – 25th May). Promotional workshops and economic seminars followed by tailor-made B2B matchmakings will be organized in the cities of Chicago and New York. Common program elements are being discussed.

Please find enclosed the tentative program of the economic mission. Interested companies are kindly requested to duly complete the linked registration form here , no later than the 5th May, 2017.
