On 6 October 2025, the Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of welcoming an incoming delegation from the Czech Republic. Focusing on smart security and defence, the event fostered a dynamic exchange of perspectives between Czech and Luxembourg stakeholders.
Organised in close cooperation with CzechTrade, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Prague, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Luxembourg, and the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic (AOBP), the visit hosted the Czech-Luxembourg Smart Security Forum, which gathered institutional representatives, industry experts, as well as business leaders from both countries.
The programme opened with welcome remarks by Cindy Tereba, CTO and Director International Affairs of the Chamber of Commerce, and H.E. Barbara Karpetová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Luxembourg. Both underlined the shared commitment of their respective countries to foster innovation and strategic cooperation. Their addresses set a collaborative tone for the forum, highlighting the importance of cross-border partnerships in tackling today’s complex challenges.
A thematic session on smart security and defence followed, offering a rich exchange of cross-disciplinary perspectives from experts on both sides. On the Luxembourg side, Yanniss Levron, Cybersecurity Expert at LuxDefence, and Pascal Steichen, CEO of the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, highlighted Luxembourg’s strategic approach to cybersecurity and defence innovation. Jiří Hynek, President of AOBP, and Pavel Zelenka, Director of CzechTrade, shared insights on the Czech Republic’s defence industry and its support for international trade.
Moderated by Jenny Hällen Hedberg, Head of International Relations at Luxinnovation, the session encouraged open and engaging dialogue, and concluded with an interactive Q&A.
To extend the forum’s discussions, the event featured pre-scheduled B2B meetings, and ended with a networking lunch, allowing participants to further exchange in a casual atmosphere.
Capitalising on the momentum of the State Visit of H.E. Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, to Luxembourg in 2024, this event marked a significant step in strengthening economic and strategic ties between the two countries. The event laid the foundation to deepen cooperation in smart security, defence technologies, and cybersecurity, areas of priority in the European Union.
The Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its commitment to furthering collaboration in these strategic sectors by organising a trade mission to the Czech Republic planned for 2026. For more information, please contact czechia@cc.lu.
