The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce hosted its traditional Chinese New Year Reception on 11 February 2026 bringing together 350 representatives from the Luxembourgish and Chinese business communities, as well as diplomatic and institutional stakeholders. The evening provided a valuable platform for economic dialogue, cultural exchange and international cooperation at the start of the Lunar New Year.
A Year Symbolising Momentum and Progress
In his welcome address, Mr. Fernand Ernster, President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the symbolism of the Year of the Horse, associated with energy, determination, openness and progress. He underlined how these values resonate strongly with Luxembourg’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and with the Chamber’s mission to support companies in their international development.
Describing the reception as “more than a tradition”, Mr. Ernster emphasised its role as a platform where partnerships are forged, opportunities identified and long‑lasting relationships strengthened. He also expressed his appreciation to the Chamber’s long‑standing partners, CHINALUX and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office to the EU, as well as to H.E. Ambassador Hua Ning for his continued engagement in fostering bilateral relations.
A Year Marked by Milestones in Luxembourg – China Cooperation
Looking back on recent developments, Mr. Ernster highlighted several milestones that illustrate the depth and diversity of Luxembourg – China relations. These included the expansion of the Zhengzhou – Luxembourg Air Silk Road to 21 weekly cargo flights, further strengthening Luxembourg’s position as a strategic European logistics hub, as well as reinforced cooperation in logistics, clean technologies and aviation following the visit of a high-level Henan Province delegation in September 2025.
He also recalled the celebration of 53 years of stable diplomatic relations, reaffirmed through high-level parliamentary exchanges, and pointed to the issuance of a €4 billion sovereign bond on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange as a strong signal of confidence in Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem.
Together, these achievements underline the importance of economic diplomacy and confirm Luxembourg’s role as a trusted European platform for Chinese investors.
New Prospects for 2026
Turning to the outlook of the year ahead, Mr. Ernster announced the organisation of a multi-sector trade mission to China, planned for September 2026. The mission will focus on key sectors such as logistics, automobility, green technologies and innovation, offering Luxembourgish companies new opportunities to expand into one of the world’s most dynamic markets.
