Press release

As part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the extension of restrictions affecting several sectors, the Government and the Chamber of Commerce are providing two Covid-19 antigen self-test kits free of charge to operators of establishments in the hotel, restaurant, event and fitness sectors. The distribution of the tests is organised by the Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, the Horesca and the Luxembourg Confederation of Commerce.

The first kit can be collected from 29 December 2021 and the second from 5 January 2022 at Luxexpo The Box. Please note that a collection of both kits together is only possible from 5 January 2022.

In line with the Government's strategy for screening and combating the virus and in accordance with the amended Act of 17 July 2020[1] on measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, customers wishing to consume in an establishment in the HORECA sector or to exercise inside a fitness club will have to provide themselves with either a self-diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 carried out on the premises, or a valid NAAT test or a valid SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test, provided that they are not able to present a certificate of vaccination with a booster, corresponding to a 3rd dose of vaccine. This means that all customers welcomed in the premises of such an establishment with a valid 2-dose vaccination certificate (without booster) or recovery certificate will be subject to this rapid on-site screening, in accordance with the additional measures announced by the Government on 22 December 2021 ("2G+" regime) unless they can present another valid test. The chosen approach will ensure the health safety of customers and employees in the sector, provide a representative overview of potential outbreaks in the sector and avoid situations where the virus can be transmitted.

The aim of this joint approach by the Government and the House of Entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce is to guarantee the health safety of customers and employees in the sector and to avoid the transmission of the virus.

All concerned establishments will receive a letter by post in the next couple of days. The letter will allow them to make an appointment via the indicated QR code and then to collect their free test kit at the booked timeslot. If you do not receive the letter by 30 December 2021, please contact covid19@houseofentrepreneurship.lu indicating the name of the company as registered in the RCS with the RCS number, the address of the company's registered office, the number of employees and proof that the company carries out an activity in the eligible sectors (e.g. photos, authorisation of establishment, etc.).

In case of questions related to the distribution of antigen self-tests, please send a detailed email to the House of Entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce: covid19@houseofentrepreneurship.lu or call an advisor at (+352) 42 39 39 - 700.
