The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organized the "Go International: Kazakhstan - The Land of Great Opportunities" webinar, in close collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kazakh Invest, on November 13th, 2020.

This webinar is part of the 'Go International' event series, organized by the International Affairs team at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, dedicated to maintaining trade relations abroad, and to assist companies in exploring new markets differently. Over 120 individuals signed up for this event.

Mrs Cindy Tereba, Director of International Affairs at the Chamber of Commerce and H.E. Mrs Aigul Kuspan, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Luxembourg, jointly opened the webinar before giving the floor to Mr. Askar Shokybayev, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who gave a general overview of the country's economy.

Following his introduction, Mr. James Martin, Chief Executive Officer of AIFC Business Connect gave a presentation of the Astana International Financial Center's Advantages; Mrs. Ainur Tumysheva, Foreign Representative of Kazakh Invest, talked about Kazakhstan's investment opportunities and incentives; and Mr. Yerzhan Tutkushev, Managing Director of Logistics & International Cooperation of "Samruk-Kazyna" gave a presentation on the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Kazakhstan.

After the presentations on investment and business incentives in Kazakhstan, three Luxembourg-based companies took the virtual stage to share their experiences and expertise in the market:

  • Mr. Andre Reitenbach, Chief Executive Officer, G-Core Labs
  • Mr. Vijay Goyal, Chief Executive Officer, ArcelorMittal CIS
  • Mr. Alexander Sokolov, Head of Moscow office & Senior Associate, Arendt & Medernach

Following a brief Q&A with questions asked by the audience, Benedikt Sobotka, CEO of Eurasian Resources Group and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan, officially closed the webinar with an optimistic outlook on the economic collaboration between Luxembourg and Kazakhstan.
